Monitoring & Assessment of Atmospheric Ambient Aerosol

Eco Qatar scientists and engineers have the experience and know how to conduct monitoring and assessment programs to study the ambient atmospheric aerosol and determine whether the current levels of toxic heavy metals or organic pollutants particularly, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), pose a threat to human health.

Potential monitoring programs in this area include:

  • Monitoring of PM, PM10, PM2.5 and other particle size segregated samples using high volume samplers and cascade impactors;
  • Commissioning of physicochemical characterization studies of the aerosols to investigate their spatial and temporal distribution and potential sources;
  • Cytotoxicity studies to determine the human health impact resulting from exposure to hazardous air pollutants.
